Entry Route to Gas

If you are planning for a career in gas our ‘new to gas’ diploma route will support you to achieve your future goals.

Course Details

Approved by IGEM the ‘new to gas’ diploma course is designed for anyone who has never worked within the gas industry to train and qualify as a domestic ‘Gas Safe’ engineer. 

The course is delivered at Ignite Training, by specialist coaches and combines theory and practical learning, with topics including:

  • Health and safety

  • Regulations

  • Pipework

  • Combustion

  • Tightness Testing and Purging

  • Controls

  • Safe isolation

  • Fluing

  • Ventilation…

When not training at the centre you need to gain on-site experience with a Gas Safe registered engineer. You will be required to install, service and repair appliances you wish to be assessed on and will need to meet the expected range and requirements before you can be entered for assessment.

Our digital classroom and evidence collation systems will make it easy for you to upload your evidence, gain feedback and receive support when not at the centre.

Key Details

Duration: 6 - 8 months

Attendance: 1 week per month, over 7 months

Certification body: Cert-ain Certification

Placement: you will be required to organise your own placement with a Gas Safe registered engineer
